Young People Program

PhD Students initiatives

The DATE 2021 conference includes a number of initiatives targeting PhD students, with the goal of increasing their visibility, establishing contacts, and encouraging discussion about their future perspectives with experts of the field.

PhD Forum

The PhD forum is a great opportunity for PhD students to present their work to a broad audience in the system design and design automation community from both industry and academia, and to establish contacts for entering the job market. Representatives from industry and academia get a glance of state-of-the-art in system design and design automation.

Career Fair

The Career Fair aims at bringing together Ph.D. Students and potential job seekers with recruiters from EDA and microelectronic companies. Interested jobseekers have the opportunity to present themselves to the best workplaces in the industry, and to have an interview with interested companies at the company booth or in dedicated interview rooms.

BarCamp

The BarCamp is an interactive open research meeting. Participants present, discuss and jointly develop ideas and results of the ongoing scientific work in a more interactive way. Characterized by an informal atmosphere, the goal of the BarCamp is to generate new and out-of-the-box ideas, and allow networking and interaction between participants.

Tutorials

DATE tutorials are pre-conference events presenting the state of the art on open research topics, with discussion of their challenges, of the latest research findings and workflows, and of the issues that still lie ahead. Tutorials are open to PhD Students. Participants may move between tutorials during the session.

Panels about Career Perspectives

The session will feature a round table discussion with different views and opportunities in computer science high-end research as speakers from Academia, Industry, and even self-made Entrepreneurs have been invited to give their insights and valuable knowledge on these different paths.

It is expected to have a broad audience of students, graduates, early researchers, and Ph.D. students attending DATE 2021's Young People Program in order to provide them with the current professional and career opportunities within the technological field. They will also learn more about HiPEAC Jobs and related services provided by the HiPEAC community.
