Nano-Tera.ch is a broad engineering program in Switzerland which supports research in complex (tera-level) systems for health, security and the environment using micro- and nanotechnologies and considering key energy aspects. The convergence of technologies in these areas represents fertile ground for innovation, and will be instrumental in the development of new markets and the improvement of living standards.
After 2 years of operation, Nano-Tera now funds more than 60 projects, including 19 RTD (Research, Technology, Development) projects led by consortiums of 3 to 9 partners, for a total budget of 120 MCHF. The research involves more than 600 researchers and 30 Swiss research institutions, yielding about 300 publications and 500 presentations in conferences and workshops, as well as several presentations in the media.
In 2011, Nano-Tera has also offered pilot grants for projects in partnership with Chinese institutions, and also launched a call for proposals for a new series of RTD projects.
