Cool Electronics at DATE 2010 in Dresden
DATE09 was a great success, and just as full proceedings have become available online, plans are now afoot for DATE 2010 which will feature some special events on nano and cool electronics.
DATE 2010 will take place in the Dresden Congress Center, Germany, from 08-12 March, 2010. Prof. Giovanni De Micheli, EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland, was appointed General Chair of DATE 2010.
'As the centre of a leading nanoelectronics cluster in Europe, Dresden is the perfect place for hosting DATE 2010,’ said Professor Giovanni De Micheli. 'The ultra-modern conference centre and the close-by historical centre of this beautiful town with lots of cultural highlights make it an attractive location for a worldwide leading event like DATE. I am happy and proud to announce that the Executive Committee and the complete Technical Program Committee are already nominated and the work on the program has already begun.'
Special Days on Nanoelectronics and Cool Electronic Systems
DATE 2010 will feature two Special Days focussing on topics of outstanding importance for the industry and will dedicate a full day program of keynotes, panels, tutorials and technical presentations to each of them.
Prof. Adrian Ionescu, EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland, is the organizer for the Special Day on “Nanoeletronics”. Nanotechnology will permeate industrial products in the years to come, and will be present ubiquitously in various forms and means. In particular, nanoelectronic circuits will exploit new materials (such as carbon) to produce smaller and faster transistors, as well as integrated sensors with direct electronic coupling to the environment. The special day will address new nanotechnologies, their integration into electronic systems, and the EDA tools and methods for nanoelectronics.
Professor Gerhard Fettweis, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, is organiser of the Special Day on “Cool Electronic Systems”. The search for low-power/energy systems is a cross-cutting edge issue that affects electronics systems designs in many ways, from circuits to architectures, from communication structures to software. The trend toward energy-conscious (green) system design affects products of various kinds, from the home to the office, from telephone/communicators to embedded computing. This special day will address new methods and tools for circuit and system design at the frontier of minimum power/energy operation.
