Press Release
DATE 09 continues to expand its unique feature of linking new research findings to applications and of stimulating vivid exchange of information among all players in the electronics industry.
"2009 has been a challenging but exciting year, and I am very pleased to say that in just a little more than twelve months we transformed a traditional trade show plus conference into a more agile form of networking-oriented event where companies, start-ups, research institutes and industry-academia R&D consortia can connect with business partners though a wide variety of networking options, ranging from table-top points-of-presence to private meeting rooms, to workshops and panels.
I am also very excited about the co-location with ARTEMIS' spring event which will bring representatives of the largest European companies in embedded intelligence and Systems design to the Nice Acropolis," said Professor Luca Benini, DATE General Chair and Professor of Computer Engineering at Bologna University.
Designers …
Will find an exhibition with 58 exhibitors, including 5 start-ups. Also part of the exhibition are the European Projects Booths and the University Booth, which enables designers to complete their knowledge of commercial tools with newest methodologies and tools developed by research.
Nearby the booths two invited industrial sessions on “Industrial System Designs in Multimedia and Communication” and on “Industrial System Design Flow” plus a program of 11 hot-topic and panel sessions in the exhibition theatre are open to the exhibition visitors.
In the conference the full applications track, which had 30% growth in number of submissions, is especially focussing on designers’ needs.
The Special Day on SoC Development Strategies includes discussion of topics like “Vertical Integration Versus Desegregation”, “ESL Methodology for SoC”, “Architectures and Integration for Programmable SoC's” and “Concurrent SoC Development and End-to-End Planning”.
The Special Day on Multicore Applications highlights an embedded tutorial “Understanding MulticoreTechnologies”, presentations of “Multicore Products for Mass Market Applications” and a panel discussion “Programming MPSoC Platforms: Roadwork's Ahead!”.
Researchers …
Will benefit from unlimited opportunities to discuss research findings with their leading colleagues worldwide. DATE 09 again was able to enlarge its community, as shown by the record number of paper submissions.
On top of that, ARTEMIS will substantially increase attendance in Nice by co-locating its annual spring event with DATE 09.
Managers and investors …
Are provided with hot-topic sessions on important future markets like “Health-Care Electronics: The Market, The Challenges, The Progress” and with Executive Sessions on technical topics like “Are We There Yet? A Progress Report on the Move to 32nm”. Funding will be discussed in the Executive Session “Funding and New Ventures: What Can We Expect Now?” and on the multicore-day in the panel session “Multicore, Will Start-ups Drive Innovation?”.
