The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is an Austrian research institute with a European format and focuses on the key infrastructure issues of the future. It is geared towards developing the methods and technologies of tomorrow for the innovations of the day after tomorrow.
The AIT-Department Safety & Security focuses on safety and security as two of the most important aspects of ever-increasing ICT relevance for today’s citizens. ‘Safety’ is in our case oriented toward technologies and refers to the safety of individuals and communities, which is directly or indirectly dependent on the proper functioning or availability of an information processing system or infrastructure (resilience). ‘Security’ rather refers to the protection of information and public society and the prevention of any potential violation through unauthorized access to or alteration of personal information.
Among other technologies the Safety & Security Department focuses on embedded real-time software and systems technology and tools relevant for control system architectures, embedded vision systems, validation and evaluation in automotive, railway, industrial control, robotics and aerospace applications.
