DATE, and the ARTEMISIA Association for R&D actors in Advanced Research & Technology of Embedded Intelligence, are joining forces to stage a joint event in Nice

Embedded Information systems are the fastest growing sector in Information Technology:  Key drivers to the competitiveness of existing industrial sectors are leading to the emergence of new markets and business opportunities.  The need for close co-operation and synergy between all stakeholders in the European software industry and a vision how this is being achieved is a major theme. This will all come together in Nice this year: research actors and policy makers from industry, academia and public authorities from all over Europe will come together at the DATE & ARTEMIS joint event.

‘We are delighted that it was possible to co-locate DATE09 and this ARTEMIS annual event! All stakeholders in our industry, including research, design and management, will benefit from the efficient opportunities a central European event is offering.’ - Prof. Luca Benini, DATE09 General Chair

The ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking is a major Pan-European R&D effort with companies, research institutes, and SMEs gatheres in the ARTEMISIA association, together with the EU and national public finding authorities. ARTEMISIA has grown rapidly since its foundation in 2007.
Daimler, Nokia, Philips Electronics, STMicroelectronics and Thales were the funding members, and now ARTEMISIA has over 150 members. A key element of its newly drafted Multi-Annual Strategic Plan (MASP) 2009 is the building of self-sustaining innovation ecosystems for European leadership in embedded systems, based on Centres of Innovation Excellence.

The Programme of the ARTEMIS Event will take place April 23,24 with public Focus Sessions and the ARTEMIS Orchestra Contest on the first day. The ARTEMIS Orchestra Contest challenges students and young professionals to create devices that play real, unmodified musical instruments with the help of various embedded systems. The ARTEMIS General Assembly will take place on April 24 and is partially open for public.
