DATE 09 Applications Design Track Headlines

2009/03/20

Luca Fanucci, University of Pisa, Italy - DATE 09 Applications Design Chair

With its 30 percent increase in papers submission on industrial applications, DATE09 has become a key event for information sharing between electronics industry and academic research.

The latest research innovations and industrial design experiences in different application domains will be presented in eleven technical sessions organized and distributed over the conference.

Highlights include sessions on applications, architectures and design methods for reconfigurable hardware (session 2.3 and 3.3) and practical design experience on complex systems in aerospace, MEMs and mixed-signal applications (session 4.3).

New challenges in embedded system security and key issues for the design and security evaluation of cryptographic functions will be presented in session 5.3 and 6.3.

Several innovative aspects and applications for multi-core platforms will be addressed. Particularly, session 7.3 will address on-chip communication networks while session 8.3 will present video applications and dynamic thermal management for multi-core platforms.

Networks, sensing and communication technologies for automotive applications are considered in Session 9.3.

The most recent design experiences for integrated signal and multimedia processing are presented in sessions 10.3 and 11.3, while session 12.3 will cover practical implementations for MIMO and UWB communication systems using application-specific instruction-set processors and dedicated platforms.

In addition to the above technical sessions, DATE09 features two invited industrial sessions, taking place in the Exhibition Hall (Room Risso 8, Level 2) on Wednesday (session 8.8) and Thursday (session 9.9). Experts from industry will present how they are facing design challenges in their products in terms of system design and implementation methodologies.
