DATE'09 Call for Papers

The Design, Automation, and Test in Europe (DATE) conference is one of the worlds premier conferences dedicated to electronic and embedded systems. The technical programme features:

  1. Four distinctive and integrated themes (Click to download the related call: Design Application Test and Embedded Software), covering all aspects of systems design and engineering.

  2. Two special days are focusing on new emerging challenges the electronics industry faces. Learn how theses challenges are being addressed by the combined efforts of academia, design, verification and test engineers, and EDA vendors. DATE 09 special days are:

    • SoC Development Strategies - This special day will focus on the new challenges, trends and development strategies in SoC design. Experts from IDMs and fabless companies, suppliers like EDA, IP, design services, test, and packaging product and service providers will join together and share their experience and contributions on several hot topics: SoC development tradeoffs, concurrent SoC development and end-to-end planning, vertical integration vs disaggregation, multisourcing and the role of standardisation.
      Chair: Yervant Zorian, Virage Logic,
      Contact: yervant.zorian@viragelogic.com
      Co-Chair: Lorena Anghel, IMAG,
      Contact: lorena.anghel@imag.de

    • Multicore Applications - Multicore concept is expected to be a serious alternative to ASIC design to continue the race toward integration of more and more sophisticated applications at lower design cost, lower power consumption and higher computation power and performances thanks to combination of distributed control and software reconfiguration. It additionally enables an easier mapping of different applications on the same IC. The success of these new ICs depends on the availability of new programming and software methodologies and skills that are required to achieve acceptable design quality and productivity. This special day brings together key actors from academia and industry in the areas of Multicore HW and SW architecture to build a vision of the next step in application design. Speakers will provide insights on Multicore platforms for application domains like multimedia, high-end computing and wireless.
      Chair: Ahmed Jerraya, CEA-LETI,
      Contact: ahmed.jerraya@cea.fr
Co-Chair: Pieter van der Wolf, NXP,
      Contact: pieter.van.der.wolf@nxp.com

  3. Special sessions, including panels, hot-topic sessions and embedded tutorials highlighting and informing emerging topics, discussing the latest and the best, sharing experiences and visions.
    Chair: Pol Marchal, IMEC,
    Contact: marchal@imec.be

  4. Friday Workshops are covering current and emerging important issues in design, test, EDA and software to complement the regular conference technical programme.
    Chair: Peter Cheung, Imperial College,
    Contact: p.cheung@imperial.ac.uk

  5. PhD Forum is a poster session for students to present and discuss their research with other researchers and potential employers in the fields of electronic design test and EDA.
    Chair: Peter Marwedel, TU-Dortmund,
    Contact: peter.marwedel@tu-dortmund.de

  6. Tutorials are half and full-day technical tutorials that are given by world-leading experts in their respective fields. The tutorials are well suited for researchers, tool developers and system designers.
    Chair: Alex Yakovlev, Univ. Newcastle,
    Contact: Alex.Yakovlev@ncl.ac.uk
